Recovery..

It is the time where an alcoholic or addict finds him/herself and becomes grateful for what they have and realizes that the path they have been taking for so long is not the right one. It is a time where the past becomes just that, the past, and healing the broken soul begins. It is a time of re-birth and a time to celebrate the victory over the self-inflicted pain we have been enduring for years upon years.

Recovery promises us a life of freedom from the prison cell we have not only built around our lives, but existed in and lived in while in our active addictions. Anger, resentments, isolation, fears, doubts, sorrow, regrets, inferiority, selfishness, self-centeredness, and greed all start to disappear and in their place come kindness, forgiveness, strength, knowledge, peace, generosity, compassion, faith, love, and serenity.

For me, recovery was the calm after the storm. The powerful realization that yes, there is a life after addiction and I can have it if I want it. It allowed me to open my heart for the first time in years and break the chains that have held me back from becoming the person I was supposed to be. Recovery has afforded me my life back and a better understanding that a rich life should not built upon a foundation of physical things such as money, homes, designer suits, and expensive cars, but rather wonderful things such as ethical values, generosity, integrity, love, and strong relationships.

Today, I hold onto my recovery tighter than I will ever hold anything else, but I will always share it with the world if they are receptive to it….

If you are not in recovery and this way of life appeals to you, then it is here waiting for you. Reach out that hand for help and open your heart to the freedom that recovery will afford you. I have drank and I have drugged for over 28 years and have been sober and clean for 7 plus years. In that sober and clean time, I have done more, achieved more, and progressed more than I did in the 28 years of active use. If I could make one promise to you, I would promise you that if you found recovery, your life would be metamorphisized into something that you only dream about and with recovery, your dreams will become a reality…That is my promise to you!!!!!!

Please get help if you need it!!!!!!

Warm regards,
