To whom it may concern, Please accept this recommendation for Rich Barnes as a guest speaker in your school. I had Rich speak to our juniors and seniors in May 2018. Since this was his first time speaking at Wareham High School I stayed for the whole presentation. Needless to say I was very impressed with the way he connected with our students. He wasn’t preaching, his story was real and the students paid close attention throughout the presentation. Rich explained how he everything one would want and the drugs were so powerful they took over his life. He brought things full circle by telling kids there is hope if you or someone you know is struggling with drugs and alcohol. He has been clean and sober for years and now wants to spread his message to kids.
I thought the presentation in May was so powerful I invited Rich to speak to our freshman and sophomores in June. One way that I evaluate a guest speaker presentations is by how many students reach out to the speaker after the presentation. For Rich, the line was pretty long and he took time to speak to each student individually.
