On February 26, 2012, I had the honor of meeting Richard Barnes of Bridgewater, Massachusetts at Somethin’s Brewin Book Cafe in Lakeville, Massachusetts. We both attended a “Lazy Sunday” event put on by Stephanie Blackman, who is the publisher of Riverhaven Books. Richard and I attended the event since we have books published by her company.
Richard heard me talk about my life being married to an alcoholic and our famliy’s private life behind closed doors with fear, confusing and physical abuse. I lost both my husband and daughter to their addiction. We were introduced by Stephanie Blackman and had a deep conversation from both sides of substance abuse since Mr. Barnes is a recovering alcoholic.
On March 31, 2012, I had a scheduled speaking engagement on “Alcohol Abuse in the Family” at the Bristol-Plymouth Technical Regional School in Taunton, MA and invited Mr. Barnes to be my guest speaker.
Mr. Barnes speaks from the heart about his battle from a young age that led him on the road to alcohol and drug abuse. he is very compassionate and has a strong drive and desire to reach out to other addicts to make them aware of the dangerous road they are traveling down which can lead to their death.
I would recommend Mr. Barnes for any event you may be planning in the future if you need a speak for your group
