I had the pleasure of working at a homeless shelter last Saturday night for about 5 hours and in those five hours, I saw so many things that I would have never thought I would see in a place such as this. For instance, I saw people smiling, I saw people laughing, I saw people being grateful, and I saw a lot of them being genuinely kind, despite their circumstances. It was such an eye opener to me because I also see people that have it much better than these people not smiling, not laughing, not being grateful, and very unkind. I left there at about 7:00 that night and realized something very important. Despite our circumstances, despite what we are going through, despite what life is throwing at us, we, you and I, can always be smiling, we can always be laughing, we can always be grateful, and we can always be kind to one another. In some instances, I guess you have to lose something, if not everything, to become a better person.. Have a grateful day!!!!! Rich Barnes
