Good morning my wonderful friend,
I am beating down your door.
Good morning my wonderful friend,
are you looking for some more?
You know you can’t get rid of me,
I am the monkey on your back,
I will take your beautiful light,
and return a shade of black.
…
You know me I am your addiction,
I have been your best friend for years.
I bring you nothing but sadness,
and many many tears.
I will take away your friends,
I will fill you full of pride.
I will continue to hurt you daily,
and I willl never leave your side.
I will turn you into something,
you never thought you would be.
I will turn you into a monster,
keep feeding me and you’ll see
I am willing to help you hide,
from the beauty that is called life.
I will fill your void with anger,
chaos, loneliness, and strife.
I will tell you that you ain’t worth it,
that death is a very great thought.
I will tell everyone when you are gone,
how you lost and how good you fought.
Oh no, dont ask them for help,
because that will kill me slow.
Please stop going to those meetings,
ok, it is time for me to go.
You may be sober now,
and I hope it doesn’t last.
I will sit here and wait for you,
always bringing up your past.
Sobriety can’t help you,
and I am sure that you will find.
That sobriety will remove the resentments,
and finally make you kind.
So won’t you please come back to me,
so I can fill your heart with hate?
“No” you say, ” sobriety is better”
then screw you, and I will wait!!!!
I have been on both sides of the tracks, active and sober. I abusively drank for 28 years, and abused cocaine and crack for 21 years. I, by the grace of God, have continued to stay sober for the last 7 plus years and I know I will never look back. If you need help, help awaits you, but sadly will not chase you….Please find that help you neeed and get sober. Isn’t it time, your time???
Warmest regards,
Rich Barnes
