Drug and alcohol abuse are no longer a problem, they are an epidemic, and the users are getting younger and younger. Please do not think for one min…ute that it could never be your child because addiction and alcoholism does not discriminate!!!! Remember, despite how smart, kind, good, caring, or aware your child is, they are still a child and are prone to making some bad choices. Take it from me, a recovering alcoholic and drug addict who started drinking at the age of 10 and abusing drugs at the age of 17, openly educate your children about the dangers of drugs and alcohol, have an open door policy that they can talk to you about what is going on in their lives, and tell them how proud you are of them show them you care. A child who is educated about drugs and alcohol stands a much better chance of not becoming an addict or an alcoholic than a child who is not….Breaking that barrier or “stigma” as I heard last night about drugs and alcohol, can save lives!!!!

I never, ever, want to see a child go through what I went through for 28 years and if you are a parent, please do not turn a blind eye to this, your child’s life may truly depend on it…..
