I have heard it many times before, but for some reason, it really hit me today. I heard someone say, “we forget how fragile and short life really is” and it truly made me think hard about life. It made me think about how we wait for Christmas and birthdays to give gifts, or for special events such as a funeral to see people we care about that we have not seen in years, or for Thanksgiving to give thanks for things we have, or for Valentine’s Day to express love to the people closest to our hearts, and as we wait for these days, time goes by and the clock keeps ticking. Precious moments go by and we consider these days as “ordinary” and we start taking them for granted, when in reality, these days and the hours in them are very unique and special, but sadly are numbered.
We need to not wait for these days to come and need to live every day as if it were our last. We need to become a bigger giver, even if it is giving a smile or a hug to someone in need of one, we need to reach out to people we care about more and let them know that we are thinking of them, we need to give thanks more often for what we have in our lives and the people in them, and we need to express love to the people closest to our hearts more often. You see, we need to focus our attentions on the good things that we have in our lives and not focus our attention on the bad things that surround us, and what I have found out in my personal experiences, is that sometimes we have to have things taken away from us before we become grateful for them.
The more we focus our lives on the good things that we have and not only focus on them, but be grateful for them and give thanks for them, the more we can appreciate every day of our lives. Seeds of discouragement, seeds of sadness, seeds of disappointment, and seeds of fear will never take root in a grateful heart.
So tell me,
Do you have peace in your life?
Do you have love in your heart?
Do you have forgiveness in your soul?
What are you going to do today to make sure you remember this day?
Are you going to use or misuse the hours of the day?
Are you going to invest in the hours or waste the hours?
Are you enjoying life or letting it pass you by, one day at a time?
Today, go out and “seize the day”. Never again let a single day go by without recognizing its uniqueness and the opportunities that are waiting for you in it. We need to learn to live each day as if it were our last and allow the memories of this day to be forged in our minds.
Remember, each day that passes us by, we exchange a day of our lives for it. So today, go out and make it your best day yet!!!
